St John the Theologion. This is the prototype for the icon we will paint from start to finish during the class. Instruction in acrylic gouache using 23K gold leaf.

We always encourage early registration. When you register early, it helps us offer a firm commitment and encourages others to join. Some are tempted to hesitate, first wanting assurance the group will fill. Of course we can’t know the future, but we promise to do our best to keep the class intact, regardless of numbers. In the very rare occasions, a class needs to be cancelled, your deposit is *reimbursed 100%. You have nothing to lose. Also, if you learn about a class after the deadline, still reach out to us.
If possible, we’ll do our best to add you to the group.Total cost for the workshop is $500.00. A non-refundable deposit* of $250.00 is due by September 10, 2024.

Billings MT
2010
St. Bernard Catholic Church in Billings, Montana hosted an icon painting (writing) class October 11-15, 2010. We painted an icon of the Konevitsa Mother of God during the class of 11 students. It was a wonderful week, and the icons turned out beautiful.
Maryhill Museum
Goldendale WA
2013
Our fourth icon class was held at the Maryhill Museum in Goldendale, WA September 10-14, 2013. We painted this icon of the Saint John the Forerunner on a 9.5″ x 12″ board. We had a great time and spent time looking at the collection of icons at the museum
Billings MT
2015
In our fifth class in Billings Montana, the twelve participants painted an 11.5" x 14" icon of Saint George the Trophybearer. We had a number of returning students who are a joy to spend time with each year. About half of the students, however, were new to the classes. All did a wonderful job even for a very complex icon.

In our sixth class in Billings Montana, we had 8 students and painted this 10" x 12" icon of the Holy Prophet Elijah being fed by the raven beside the brook in the Cherson Valley.

Our second icon class was held in Billings MT July 25-29, 2011. We painted this icon of Christ on a 10″ x 12″ board. It was another terrific class with a great group of students, and we look forward to another class next year.

Our third icon class was held in Billings MT July 2-6, 2012. We painted this icon of the Archangel Gabriel on a 8″ x 12″ board. We so enjoy making this an annual event to visit with returning students and meet new people!

2014
After a year off from our regular Billings class, we returned August 11-15, 2014 and painted this beautiful icon of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The students are pursuing the creation of an icon painting guild to keep up on their skills between annual classes.
Eureka MT
2014
In our first class in Eureka MT, near Glacier National Park, we tackled an ambitious icon of Christ the Good Shepherd with 13 students from across the country. The class was held September 1-5 at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church.
